AWE is currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to work in the Supply Chain division of the business. The job purpose is the negotiation, award and day-to-day management of contracts to meet business needs. This is a permanent position on site here at AWE in Aldermaston.

Location - Reading area

Package - £20,000 - £30,000 subject to skills and experience

Closing Date - Monday 29th April 2019

You will be required to:

  • Utilise various forms of contract terms (usually AWE Standard Terms) for the preparation, analysis, negotiation, award and delivery of contracts within the Delegation of Procurement Authority (DoA)
  • Management of contract performance, quality, cost and KPIs (key performance indicators), supporting the development of improvement plans and escalating where appropriate
  • Day to day buying activities, ensuring that schedules and demand are understood and met and issues are dealt with promptly
  • Continuously maintaining ABS housekeeping to ensure the accuracy of contract data
  • Developing and maintaining working relationships and awareness with key internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player

To be successful in the role your skills will include:

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include Maths and English
  • Proficient with MS Office especially Excel
  • Accuracy in data entry and analysis and attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communicator
  • Able to develop constructive working relationships and challenge inappropriate behaviour/activities
  • Numerate, comfortable with data analysis
  • Proactive approach, tackles issues before they become problems
  • Aptitude for working in a process led environment
