Reed Procurement and Supply chain are currently working with a leading organisation in the Cambridge area who are currently looking for an immediately available category buyer. You will be working within a cross functional team and responsible for areas such as lab consumables. 

Your duties will include;

1. Management of a defined category using the seven steps of strategic sourcing model.
2. Acting as procurement lead within complex multifunctional projects
3. Actively communicating and managing contracts and suppliers to encourage best use across the broadest range of stakeholders
4. Contract management
5. Delivering VFM in a compliant manner, demonstrable to key stakeholders
6. Use of good practice tools to enable efficient & effective access to contracts

To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrable experience in the following areas;

• Delivery of a category management procurement approach. 
• Experience of execution of strategic sourcing, i.e. internal & external market analysis, category strategy, market testing and innovation, cost, price and financial analysis
• Supplier relationship management
• Stakeholder Management - internal and external
• Comprehensive, demonstrable knowledge of procurement techniques such as; value for money; whole life costing; collaboration; social impact and sustainability; market testing; total value opportunity analysis
