We're representing our client to recruit for an experienced Purchasing and Stores Manager to join their innovative business.

You'll provide strategic procurement, contract and people management to the engineering/manufacturing teams. This role will promote and lead the delivery of best practice professional procurement and contracting management which results in contracts for goods and services that deliver the business need and Value for Money.

You'll report to senior management. You'll manage the company's procurement, materials control and supervise a small team of stores personnel. The individual must be self-motivated and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and possess the ability to solve problems and collaborate with other disciplines to meet the company needs.

In this role you will:

• Manage the company's key suppliers and work towards reductions in overall costs.
• Streamlining and implementing sustainable procurement processes.
• Work with key stakeholders; source materials/goods within SLA's
• Have experience of working within an MRP environment.
• Participate in regular production meetings/team briefings and to provide MI
• To implement the key principals of Lean Manufacturing good practice.
• Optimise stock quantities and maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Implement and monitor departmental KPI`s.
• Ensuring compliance with all safety, purchasing, stores and environmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure regular checks are undertaken on plant and equipment within the factory and maintain up to date logs.

The Candidate

For this role you will need to:

• A background in engineering and manufacturing within an SME capital goods supplier.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Have excellent communication skills, verbal & written
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Be planned, organised and conscientious of productivity deadlines
• Self-motivated
• Confident and effective influencer
• Analytical in nature with excellent IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
