Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager will form an integral part of the Purchasing function in the achievement of Operational objectives. With a strong solid background in purchasing and supply chain management, the Purchasing Manager will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes.

Purchasing Manager Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Management of a small purchasing team
• Managing and controlling all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of materials and finished parts for Production
• Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for Production
• Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates
• Build close working relationships with associated departments e.g Sales and Production
• Forecast likely levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs
• Attend meetings and trade conferences
• Training and supervising the work of other members of staff

Purchasing Manager Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Degree qualified or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years experience in a purchasing role
• 3 years supervisory experience
• Management and coordination of Purchasing activities with relation to cost, delivery and quality performance
• Sound experience of organising systems and processes in a commercial environment, usually achieved through the management of teams.
• Experience of staff management will be necessary
