Multi-award-winning British beauty brand is seeking a Beauty Buyer / Product Developer who is passionate and knowledgeable about beauty and skincare product development.

They supply their beauty ranges to major retailers both in the UK around the globe. Due to continued success and expansion they are looking for a new Beauty Product Developer, who is an expert in skincare, to join their team. You will be responsible for the development and production of beauty ranges, from concept right through to launch, developing and delivering aspirational, commercial products that are both profitable and brand relevant.

You must have basic formulation experience and understanding, a genuine passion for beauty and a love of product.

In this Beauty Buyer / Product Developer role, your typical day will include:

  • Analysing the market for new product development opportunities within the beauty and skincare sector.
  • Full competitor analysis and awareness at all times.
  • Keeping on top of all beauty related trends, blogs, vlogs, etc.
  • Presenting ideas for new ranges, demonstrating thorough understanding of costs, margins, target customers and keeping the overall strategy in mind.
  • Working with the design department on initial ideas/concepts.
  • Successful delivery of new products and ranges in line with the brand and product strategy.
  • Full critical path management.
  • Ensuring that profit margins are maximised.
  • Negotiating cost prices, MOQs and payment terms.
  • Travel to global suppliers as required.
  • Attending key customer meetings with the sales team when required.
  • Full range analysis.

The successful Beauty Buyer / Product Developer will have the following qualities:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an equivalent position.
  • Good understanding of principles of formulations.
  • Ideally experience development product for the UK and US market.
  • A real passion and love for the beauty industry.
  • An eye for upcoming trends within the category.
  • A full awareness of the main and challenger brands within the industry.
  • A high level of commercial awareness in the beauty industry.
  • Ideally, experience of managing the cradle to grave product development life cycle.
  • Experience of managing suppliers.
  • Organised, with attention to detail.
  • Great communicator - ability to explain complex product specifications to a wide audience - i.e. factories, suppliers, buyers and designers.
  • Work well under pressure and deadline driven in a fast-paced role.
