Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our Enabling Functions team to work in Basingstoke.

ROLE PURPOSE:

  • The role will be accountable for the execution of the end to end procurement activities for the sourcing of materials, and equipment requirements for the business unit. Activities will include the preparation of RFQ’s, management and analysis of quotations and recommendation of contract awards to the Procurement Manager. The individual will be required to lead elements of collecting and analysing internal and external data, contribute to periodic management reports and ensure compliance to internal policies and procedures at all times.

What you'll be doing

As a Buyer, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Preparation of invitations to tenders and requests for quotations for material and service requirements
  • Complete a full evaluation of tender responses and compile award recommendations for approval
  • Provide procurement support for work winning opportunities for the business unit.
  • Raise purchase orders in line with company procedures and delegated levels of authorities
  • Ensure that project requirements are met and high quality, value for money contracts are negotiated to deliver efficiencies and meet saving targets
  • Build and maintain strong engagement relationships with internal stakeholders and the supply chain
  • Work cross- functionally with all departments to drive and deliver HSQE+S principles and commercial objectives
  • Ensure strict compliance with process and procedures and ensure quality standards are maintained across all projects

  • Support the delivery of Business and Group safety and sustainability activities

  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of procurement systems (e.g. Oracle, Bravo or similar).
