About the area you’ll be working in

From Finance and IT, to Marketing and People (HR) our support functions are the backbone of our UK operations. We may not deal directly with our customers, but we play an absolutely vital role in making sure that our customer-facing teams get all the support they need to deliver the very best service.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will support the UK Procurement vision to lead the delivery of the market strategy, governance, and policies, and delivering significant value through market specific strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management. You are also responsible for developing, implementing and delivering the Category strategy for their specific area. You will lead and develop sourcing initiatives for their category, providing category expertise to focus on strategic sourcing, content expertise and value delivery (price and total cost of ownership), whilst actively managing significant risk and issues with suppliers. You’ll also support Category Specialists to develop, implement and communicate strategic sourcing strategies. .

What’s a typical day?

A typical day will require you to be accountable for your specific category, with responsibility for total UK expenditure in their area to ensure products and services are sourced competitively and cost effectively in order to meet and enhance the businesses’ requirements. You will be accountable for identifying and delivering multiple cost saving initiatives in order to achieve individual and Department targets. You will also lead supplier selection and qualification and manage relationships with key suppliers using contemporary supplier relationship management techniques (including supplier development and measurement). Another part of the role requires you to maintain personal integrity with regards to commercial confidentiality and conduct supplier relationships with the highest standard of ethical conduct.

Who we’re looking for?

  • MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Significant relevant Category management experience or maybe a Senior Buyer ready for the next step
  • Experience gained in a large blue chip organisation.
  • Proven evidence of sourcing similar products and services - dental products and services
  • Proven ability and experience of delivering savings through driving strategic category planning
  • Experienced negotiator who is proficient at drawing upon and developing fact based negotiation plans and operating at a senior level
  • Industry and marketplace experience relevant to this role including knowledge of relevant industry legislation
  • Contract and supplier relationship management expertise
  • Comprehensive experience of working closely with interval stakeholders to ensure a successful commercial outcome
  • Proficient at drafting contracts and familiar with contract law
  • Recent and relevant experience of leading cross functional/business unit teams
