Category Lead - Award-winning food organisation - £63k + 10% bonus + company car
Going through a period of substantial growth, the leading global company within the food industry is looking for a high-achieving category lead to manage one of their largest spend areas. Having won multiple procurement awards, you will be working at the core of an industry leading organisation, with the autonomy to make significant decisions and manage spends of circa £80m whilst working collaboratively towards the goals of the wider organisation.
As a Category Lead, you will be responsible for the overall performance and delivery of the 'proteins' category, alongside developing your own team of buyers. You will use your expertise to execute strategy across the group, deliver cost savings and increase profits across meat, fish and poultry.
With a clear and achievable route to progression, the category lead will be on track to progress to a head of category position within 18 months.
As a Category Lead (Protein), you will be responsible for:
- The end to end procurement and category management across meat, fish and poultry.
- Development and implementation of strategic procurement processes to deliver significant cost savings to the organisation
- Identify and own end to end business needs process to determine product and service requirements to be sourced.
- Negotiate with key suppliers to ensure the best rates and cost savings are being delivered
- Give strategic and operational direction to the strategic sourcing team on business requirements in product and service needs
As a Category Lead (Protein), you will:
- Demonstrate a track record of delivering cost savings within the food industry
- Build and maintain successful relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
- Be passionate about food and have a desire to develop your knowledge of the industry
- Degree + CIPS desirable but not essential
