Buyer - Construction / engineered manufacturing
£27,000 to £32,000 + Benefits based upon knowledge and applied experience
38 hours week Monday to Friday

Role Profile
An energetic and professional buyer working to ensure the maintenance and improvement of a structured procurement process. Purchasing materials for manufacturing groups ensuring timely receipt of materials, maintaining high levels of quality, product availability and cost effectiveness on a project basis to ensure company targets and budgets are being achieved.
Responsibilities
* Ongoing management of pre-existing supply chain. Ensuring the timely receipt of materials, checking product availability and ensuring cost efficiency to enable ongoing and impending projects through to completion.
* Negotiate with existing and potential suppliers to ensure best availability and material cost.
* Develop external business relationships.
* Working closely with both Sales and Project Management to ensure materials are procured in time to meet both client deadlines and budget costs.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, tools and processes.
* Ensure planning models, forecasts, ordering parameters and stock projections are sufficiently accurate.
* Control third party processing activities.
* Control stock inventory and provide monthly reports to Management.
* Ensure supply with maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
* Plan for known peak & special trading periods.
Skills & Experience
* You will be an experienced buyer (3-5 years minimum experience), ideally from a construction, design or engineering background.
* You will have excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
* An ability to read and understand technical information is key; technical awareness and a technical mindset are preferred.
* An understanding of material optimisation to ensure maximum yields are achieved
* Product / industry knowledge is preferred but not essential.
* Hold suppliers to a high standard by monitoring supplier performance, overseeing product price listings, production of weekly/monthly reports and KPI's for Directors.
Astute commercial awareness.
* You will have excellent IT skills using a number of MS office packages, particular Excel, Knowledge and experience of working with SAGE 200 would be beneficial but not essential.
* Proven negotiating experience is essential.
