We have an exciting opportunity as an Export Operations Clerk for a privately owned independent freight forwarder, specialising in transporting freight all over the globe by air, sea and road.
The job purpose of this role is:
- Process any air, sea or road shipment from start to finish
- Support both sales manager and branch manager
- Arrange collections, bookings with carriers and negotiate the best possible buy rates
- Ensure all telephone calls and email are answered in a timely fashion
- Complete customs entries
- Prepare documents
- Set up job files ensuring all information is added to both the file and netfreight
- Ensure customers are given regular updates on the progress of their bookings and ensure they are invoiced promptly
- Assist with any air or ocean quotes
- Monitor stationary levels and ensure they are replenish them when they are at a level that required them to be
The ideal candiate:
- A sound knowledge of airfreight and ocean freight
- Excellent telephone manner
- Advance knowledge of Mircosoft office applications
- Attention to detail
- Takes pride in their work
- Work on their own initative
- A team player who if willing to learn and adapt to any given task
- Able to work alone
- Excellent time management and able to work to tight deadlines
- Good communication skills
- Be comfortable cold calling to increase the client base
- Minimum GCSE standard
