QUANTITY SURVEYOR / Contracts Manager / Commercial Manager

JOB TYPE: Full-time

LOCATION: New Forest (Hampshire) (UK based projects, mainly office based with some travel to project locations)

HOURS: Monday - Thursday 08:00hrs - 17:00hrs

Friday 08:00hrs - 16:30hrs

REPORTING TO: Managing Director

About the role

We are currently seeking a self-motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our Headquarters in the New Forest

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Develop HWS’s commercial processes and procedures and apply best practice and a continuous improvement approach, to maximise returns in terms of profit.
  • From tendering, post-contract administration, cost control, forecasting, claims, dispute resolution strategic solutions, negotiations of terms, and budgetary control.
  • Commercial Management
  • Contract Negotiations
  • Subcontracts Management
  • Cost Reporting
  • Risk Management
  • Manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
  • Maximise cash flow through the timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment.
  • Manage the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes.
  • Manage the production of accurate and timely accounts for use in managing the business.

Experience and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following: -

  • Strong management skills and experience of mentoring and development of staff for all commercial activities.
    Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Reputation for integrity, maturity, and sound business judgment; be totally comfortable working in a team and solo environment; and possess the creativity, commercial expertise, and commitment to successfully play an important role with the commercial and site teams.
  • Experience of working within the Construction industry for a main contractor
  • Sound knowledge of JCT and NEC Conditions of Contract.
