Sales and Purchasing Assistant
Location: Basildon, Essex, SS14 3DT
Working hours per week:
7.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday,
8.00am - 1.00pm Saturdays (on a rota system)
What we are looking for: A background in retail and purchasing would be advantageous. Although some previous experience gained in a timber merchants would be desirable, we are open to mature individuals who display understanding, common sense and a desire to learn. You will need to work well in a team, be sensible with the ability to act on instructions as well as keeping calm under pressure. As this position is customer focused, a polite nature is essential along with being reliable and honest.
Job description: Greeting customers at the sales desk; taking orders in person, over the telephone and by email; processing orders onto computerised system; providing quotations; purchasing yard and shop stock; placing orders with suppliers a! nd sales representatives; assisting customers with their enquiries; ensuring the smooth running of the sales and purchasing departments; occasional heavy lifting will be involved.
