We are recruiting for a Shipping and Logistics Manager for a HiTech manufacturer in the Royston area. The shipping and Logistics Manager with lead the management and global distribution of finished products, parts and consumables.

Based near Royston our client is a global supplier of innovative products. They have a reputation for innovating, reliability and quality. They are deklivering growth through providing both excellence and strategic acquisitions.

This is a dynamic, diverse and rewarding role requiring effective cross departmental interaction to ensure the on time to dispatch of high-tech products, consumables and spare parts.

A sound understanding of current shipping regulations and import/export procedures is essential to the role as is experience of coordinating time sensitive deliveries to a global customer base.

To support the company's planned growth you will be involved in exciting initiatives, including the relocation of the spares and logistics functions to our new premises and setting up a new European warehouse and dispatch centre (so some international travel will be required)

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Define and implement overall logistics strategy and be responsible for all instrument, consumables and spares shipments;
  • Coordinate shipment of all new products and supporting documentation to ensure on time dispatch to satisfy global sales orders;
  • Liaise with shipping agents to facilitate global freight shipments and satisfy import/export requirements including Letters of Credit
  • Support the Service and Support organisation to coordinate installation and relocation projects;
  • Operate an efficient spare parts inventory system to ensure global stock holdings are maintained and spares requests are fulfilled within target time-frame;
  • Develop administrative shipping and spares processes to improve operational efficiencies;
  • Lead a small team and identify opportunities for individual development to strength departmental capabilities

Profile

The successful candidate for the shipping and logistic manager will have a:

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced logistics environment managing direct reports;
  • Forward thinking and proven ability to identify and improve processes;
  • Internal and external networking skills;
  • Supplier Relationship Management experience;
  • Experience with Incoterms, Tariff codes
  • Inventory management
  • Qualified to CAA standards for the carriage of Dangerous goods by Air, Sea and Road and authorised to complete dangerous goods notes;
  • DGSA qualification preferred, training can be provided
