Permanent Purchasing Manager job offering a competitive salary working for a Manufacturing organisation

You will be joining a great company in the West of Glasgow specialising in supplying quality products worldwide. Based near Glasgow Airport, they boast state of the art facilities and have recently undergone a multi million pound refurbishment, offering parking for all employees.

Your new role

This job of Purchasing Manager will see you joining the wider Manufacturing and Production team, taking responsibility for all Purchasing and Planning activity. This role will report directly into the Site Manager and you will have responsibility for a team of 8 consisting of Buyers and Planners.

Initially you will carry out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements. You will manage and control the company's external suppliers, establishing relationships with key suppliers. Specifically, you will identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements including discount structures and volume rebates. Additionally you will benchmark supplier performance, including attending supplier visits both in the UK and abroad. With a new MRP system being implemented, you will be an expert user of this and ensure utilisation is maximised.

You will work closely with stakeholders within the business to continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend. This role will also require you to manage high volumes and a demanding workload.

What you'll need to succeed

As a Purchasing Manager, you will gain exposure to different areas of the business providing a very hands-on role, working closely with particular business units. You will have used MRP systems in previous roles and be able to provide support to other employees. You will have a proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base and be able to clearly demonstrate examples of strategic procurement or purchasing techniques you have implemented.

Experience of managing and leading a procurement team is essential to the success of this role. You will be adaptable in your communication style and be able to influence stakeholders and establish strong working relationships with both stakeholders and suppliers. As an individual you will be results orientated and proactive in your approach to work.

What you'll get in return

In addition to a competitive salary of between £45,000 - £50,000, the organisation offer a bonus scheme and an annual salary review. Your working hours will be Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 8:30-16:00. Overall a fantastic opportunity to join a reputable organisation within a popular and in demand sector.
