Following a period of rapid growth in our Value-Added Warehousing division, we are in the market for an additional General Manager.

This is a new position created by continued growth within the Value Add Warehousing business division.

Role: General Manager - Multi-site, Multi-Channel, Value Added Warehousing

Location: Rochester, Kent

Package; £60k plus benefits - healthcare, life insurance, pension, 10% performance related bonus.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Plan, direct and coordinate the warehousing operations across multiple locations for specific customer(s). Responsibilities include, managing daily operations, and planning human resources to exceed customer expectations to meet both customer KPI’s and budgets.

Direct and oversee staff members to make sure operations align with the vision of the company and our customer SLA. Manage the customer service aspect of the organisation and step in to resolve issues promptly to prevent/limit service failure. Promote the goals of the organisation daily with each employee, while optimising and improving the bottom line.

Job Duties
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of a single user warehouse site, with additional responsibilities for current and future multi-user warehouses for specific customer(s)
  • Ensure smooth running of the facility(s) operations including financial management, performance management and Health, Safety & Welfare
  • Provide strong leadership support to the warehouse team and manage staff through performance and training
  • Ensure labour turnover, customer service levels and profitability are measured through continuous improvement culture, the MIQ Way
  • Manage and lead Health and Safety, AEO and other compliance
  • Maintain effective communications at all levels including senior management to provide a 'window’ into the areas of responsibility/customers

Person Specification:

The role requires an individual who is not only flexible, but also able to manage and lead others at various locations. The ability to make things happen and drive several operations at once, both from hands on perspective and from a remote location is a must. The ideal candidate will need excellent communication skills, as the role requires extensive customer contact at board level.

The role will require some UK travel and flexible working hours to support demanding customer deadlines.

Skills required:

  • Extensive senior and multi-site, multi-channel operational experience preferably within the retail logistics sector
  • Experience of co-pack/kitting/value added warehousing B2B and B2C
  • Ability to develop, manage, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to help support planning and execution of strategic goals
  • Performance and development of staff to align and motivate large teams to deliver and exceed customer expectations.
