Adept Resourcing Engineering and Technical Division are working with our established client to recruit a Scrap Buyer based in Rotherham
The Job
- Scan the marketplace and suppliers, collect market facts and then deliver reports and actions to secure scrap at competitive prices and increase the supplier base.
- Understand scrap grade qualities and what the site can and cannot accept.
- Drive improvements in quality with suppliers.
- Buy scrap at prices better than or in line with market movements.
- Deliver all required aspects of pre-contract work and then negotiates, closes and puts in place contracts that deliver short and medium-term value for the business in line with procurement policy and sourcing processes, on the basis of the category strategy.
- Converts demands of end users and constructs a sourcing plan that maximises value across the business within the framework of agreed category strategy.
- Delivers all required aspects of pre-contract work and then negotiations, closes and puts in place contracts that deliver value for the business whilst managing the external supplier and internal end user relationship.
- Maximises value from the sale of redundant/obsolete Ferrous and non-Ferrous Scrap from across the business.
The Candidate:
- Degree or equivalent experience
- The job holder must be confident, articulate and able to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders
- Significant knowledge of the scrap market
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Willing to travel
