Scrap Buyer

Adept Resourcing Engineering and Technical Division are working with our established client to recruit a Scrap Buyer based in Rotherham

The Job

• Scan the marketplace and suppliers, collect market facts and then deliver reports and actions to secure scrap at competitive prices and increase the supplier base.
• Understand scrap grade qualities and what the site can and cannot accept.
• Drive improvements in quality with suppliers.
• Buy scrap at prices better than or in line with market movements.
• Deliver all required aspects of pre-contract work and then negotiates, closes and puts in place contracts that deliver short and medium-term value for the business in line with procurement policy and sourcing processes, on the basis of the category strategy.
• Converts demands of end users and constructs a sourcing plan that maximises value across the business within the framework of agreed category strategy.
• Delivers all required aspects of pre-contract work and then negotiations, closes and puts in place contracts that deliver value for the business whilst managing the external supplier and internal end user relationship.
• Maximises value from the sale of redundant/obsolete Ferrous and non-Ferrous Scrap from across the business.

The Candidate:

• Degree or equivalent experience
• The job holder must be confident, articulate and able to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders
• Significant knowledge of the scrap market
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills
• Willing to travel
