Commercial Practitioner - Category Manager
£35,497 - £39,114

Manchester, Coventry, Darlington & Sheffield

At the Department for Education, we’re responsible for providing children and young people with the lifelong learning they deserve. It’s a passion that’s fuelling positive change as we aim to build a world-class commercial directorate and enhance our workforce with fresh talent. With a commercial category spend of £6.4bn, we’re working on complex, high-value contracts that will create tangible results for schools, colleges and universities across the country. Perhaps you’ll have the skills and ambition we need to join us.

Leading and implementing the end-to-end category management process, you’ll manage projects for some of the department’s most complex, sensitive and high-risk projects. It’s a unique role where you’ll be able to use your expertise and knowledge to influence and shape the category management process as part of a growing organisation. Importantly, you’ll work collaboratively with suppliers, stakeholders and internal customers, to ensure that we’re making the right decisions to achieve the best commercial outcomes.

You’ll combine great commercial acumen with practical experience of helping successful projects to achieve operational savings and service delivery benefits. A proactive and pragmatic project manager, you’re confident influencing colleagues, managing stakeholders and analysing problems using a range of techniques. You’re also experienced with supporting several projects at once, often with competing business priorities.

If you’d like to join the DfE at this exciting time, please apply by visiting our website.
