Commercial Lead - Category Manager (Capital)
£48,493 - £55,912

Manchester, Coventry, Darlington & Sheffield

At the Department for Education, we’re responsible for providing children and young people with the lifelong learning they deserve. It’s a passion that’s fuelling positive change as we aim to build a world-class commercial directorate and enhance our workforce with fresh talent.   We’re working on complex, high-value contracts that will create tangible results for schools, colleges and universities across the country. Perhaps you’ll have the skills and ambition we need to join us.

You’ll be part of the new category team within Commercial and Supplier Management (Capital) (CSMC), which develops the strategy and tools to provide school capital assets. Helping to build the team’s roles, you’ll also recruit new members, and work with colleagues or external organisations to deliver 10% capital savings over the coming years. Success will rely on your ability to identify stakeholder needs, support our commercial procurement arrangements and provide the data that will drive greater efficiencies.

Ideally CIPS-qualified, you’ll certainly have a strong background in procurement (at least five years), plus contract and supplier management skills, as well as experience of a major £10m+ construction project. If you have a working knowledge of public sector procurement, category management and the education sector, so much the better.

If you’d like to join the DfE at this exciting time, please apply by visiting our website.
