My client based in Ulverston are looking for a Purchasing Administrator to join their friendly team on a full time and permanent basis.  Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Assistant will assist the department to ensure the business secures the best quality, pricing, payment terms and contracts for products and services it purchases.

The successful candidates roles and responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Negotiate prices, payment terms and agree contracts for goods and services, monitoring their progress
  • Place orders against fully authorised requisitions
  • Set up and update supplier information in MRP system
  • Ensure delivery dates are met and goods conform to quality requirements meeting KPI’s for On Time Delivery, Savings and Quality
  • Ensure monthly scorecards are sent to suppliers
  • Ensure Approved Supplier List is kept up to date and valid
  • Build and maintain relationships with both new and existing suppliers
  • Demonstrate awareness of risk and opportunity management to address low impact risks within specific scopes of work
  • Liaise closely with key stakeholders to ensure tasks and objectives are met in a timely manner
  • Support continuous improvement/process improvement opportunities

Desired experience:

  • 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics
  • IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Use of ERP/MRP systems

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and forge strong internal relationships
