Bid Manager

Location: London

Salary: £40,000-£60,000 DOE + 15% Flex Fund LEVEL 5

Role Overview:

Sopra Steria are recruiting for a Bid Manager to join our currently expanding bid management team. An increase in the number of opportunities has led to a requirement of a dedicated bid manager in the London region.

The role sits within Financial Services Bid Management team, reporting into Senior Bid Manager. Working directly with the P&L owner and sales leads for key accounts in the London region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for bid management across key FS accounts they will need to be able to work under minimal supervision.

The Succesful candidate will manage medium and large sales opportunities, ensuring that processes are followed and that deliverables are of the highest standard to maximise Sopra Steria’s chance of winning business.

Essential skills/experience:

  • Direct the bid team, providing structure and order to the bid so that deliverables produced are of the highest possible quality, working independently with limited supervision.

  • Establish and communicate detailed project plans so that contributors understand their responsibilities and are motivated to deliver on time and to the right standard.

  • Establish effective relations with all members of the bid teams, clients and partners in order to create winning teams and maximise Sopra Steria’s positioning.

  • Facilitate the definition of the solution, utilising subject matter/sector experts and drawing on own experience and knowledge to meet the client’s requirement.

  • Prepare a Cost of Sale model and monitor expenditure against budget so that internal costs are minimised and resources are focused on the right opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with the bid process so that bids and associated risks are properly underwritten and Business Commitment Reviews run smoothly.

  • In depth knowledge/experience of Sopra Steria services, solutions, clients and collateral

  • A well-developed network of contacts with Sopra Steria

  • Knowledge of Company presentation standards and templates

  • Knowledge of security and confidentiality requirements in a bidding context

  • Risk management in a bidding context

  • Specialist knowledge of different types of procurement process such as OJEU (European Journal) and methods such as e_procurement

  • Project Management against tight deadlines with immovable end dates

  • Team working including well-developed skills in the areas of delegation, influencing, and relationship building

  • Well-developed organisational skills including bid planning, resourcing and co-odination of inputs

  • Attention to detail including proof reading, editing and quality checking

  • Ability to multi-task, re-prioritise and flex to meet changing requirements

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • Production of high quality, creative client deliverables (proposals/presentations etc)

  • Ability to devise and implement effect communications processes

  • Business Commitment Review facilitation

  • Membership of a recognized professional body
