Job title: Operations Manager

Salary: £40,000 to £46,000pa
Our client is a successful logistics company based in Coventry. They are global leaders in their field and specialise in fast and efficient logistics solutions across a wide range of industries. Due to continued expansion, they are now looking to acquire the services of an experienced Operations Manager to work in their team. This is a newly created role which can offer genuine variety and significant future possibilities. This is an award-winning business that has experienced substantial growth to date, which is set to continue.
Main responsibilities:
- Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance measures.
- Accountable for daily operational productivity, profitability, procurement and planning and delivering service excellence.
- Ensure the teams are effectively resourced and that staff rotas and staff absences are managed to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Direct involvement in the recruitment, selection induction and ongoing skills development for all direct reports, ensuring that the company attracts and retains the best talent.
- Personal responsibility to understand and comply with all company ISO and AEO requirements and policies.
- Liaise with team leaders to understand all necessary aspects and needs of the operational team and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes and achievements.
- Ensure activities meet and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
- Maintain and develop working relationships with other offices within the group, clients, suppliers and official bodies.
- Manage and develop direct reporting staff ensuring staff performance reviews are carried out, supporting team leaders in the induction and effective integration of new team members.
- Liaise with supplier management team to assist with carrier compliance and the introduction of new and relevant carriers.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven operational management experience is essential, ideally within a transport/logistics environment.
- Experience within a 3PL environment is highly advantageous.
- People motivator with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and able to prioritise / delegate tasks.
- Strong communicator and able to engage people at all levels of the business.
- Passion for service-excellence and customer-service focussed.
- Confident with the use of Microsoft packages.
- Systematic approach.
Additional Information:
The working hours are 09:00 - 18:00 however, flexibility will be required and you will also have on-call responsibilities.
