Experienced Operations & Commercial Manager required to join a Recycling and Resource Management company in Nottinghamshire to run and manage their Aggregates division.  

The aggregates operation takes in waste aggerate materials, processes them and re-sells the products back to construction-based customers. This product range is then a cost-effective option to ‘primary sourced’ aggregate materials.

As Operations & Commercial Manager you will be responsible for full P&L of the Aggregates operation and management of the c10 strong team. You will be required to generate commercial leads, develop site efficiency and grow revenue and margin through cost control, innovation, exploration of new markets and continuously managing the customer base to maximise opportunities.  

Experience of working in a customer facing role dealing with transport logistics and heavy materials or construction materials would be very advantageous.  You will need proven people management and leadership skills, experience of CI techniques and have a results driven attitude. Experience of assessing aggregate type materials for categorisation and pricing and knowledge of Duty of Care requirements for different EWC waste codes will be a strong advantage.

Responsibilities of Operations & Commercial Manager:

  • Managing customer enquiries and orders to a high level whilst optimising road fleet
  • Compile quotations and assist company sales team with enquiries and tender documents for aggregate and inert material enquiries.
  • Undertake regularly profit forecasting based on sales data, orders, enquiries and costs
  • Drive H&S standards, reducing risk of injury and workplace exposure
  • Attend finance meetings and provide monthly reports on expenditure
  • Continuous development of processes, products, service offerings that can develop the aggregates operation.
  • Liaise with Yard Supervisor to optimise stock levels and ensure efficient use of machinery
  • Co-ordinate servicing and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant and road vehicles and maintain records of expenditure by asset, ensuring expenditure remains within budgetary control.
  • Ensure Daily Site Logs, Pre-Start Checks and vehicle inspections are completed to the required frequency and standard and any issues rectified
  • Responsible for reviewing Risk Assessments / Method Statements / Safe Working procedures with appropriate follow-up training to employees
  • Provide daily cover for Weighbridge operations for incoming and outgoing materials.
