Our client, a £17m t/o business based in Wakefield, are recruiting an Engineering Buyer to join their procurement team to support with the management of purchasing activity to meet the needs of the production and cost saving targets of the team.
Based in the Wakefield area the Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing of goods, working closely with production to deliver improved business performance, managing supplier relationships and ensuring the delivery of the right products at the right prices.
The Buyer duties will include:
*Take on specific projects in sourcing and commercial negotiation to ensure that the company gets the best value for money
*Support the Purchasing Manager by researching specific supply markets to understand their impact on purchasing strategies
*Maintain good communication with all internal departments and external stakeholders
*Assisting in the sourcing of products to meet customer
*Ensuring all purchase orders are placed promptly with the most cost-effective supplier
*Identify and capitalise on opportunities to increase company profits through more efficient buying
*Support production by ensuring all materials are available when required whilst meeting group inventory targets
*Report and issue supplier metrics on spend, delivery performance and quality performance, and ensure these are used to drive improved performance
The successful Buyer will need to demonstrate the following skills and expertise
*Minimum 2 years purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
*Excellent commercial awareness, with good financial understanding
*Team player with strong interpersonal skills, strength to drive change
*Have a positive 'Can do' mentality
*Educated to Degree level (ideally in Business related discipline)
*CIPS qualified, or working towards CIPS qualification
*Ideally MRP/ERP experience

£33,000 - £35,000
