Atlas Employment are delighted to be working with this client based in Reading, Berkshire, a market leader in their field who are looking to recruit an Operations Manager to assist with future business growth. This is a new, hands-on role thatwill give the successful candidate the chance to shape business operations moving forward. You will be reporting to the Directors and have significant line management responsibility, overseeing several activities and workflows within the main depot.  The ideal candidateshould be ambitious, ready to bring in high class standards to a growing company and have strong experience in leading teams of staff from diverse backgrounds.

What will I be doing as an Transport/Warehouse Manager?

• Taking responsibility for key operational aspects of the business, inbound and outbound logistics, as well as goods processing
• Creating, roll-out and monitor improvement plans with staff 
• Ensure operations work safely with high levels of housekeeping 
• Recruiting and training incoming staff, as well as developing team leaders
• Administer and follow proper disciplinary processes
• Promoting a hands on approach, being ready to 'get their hands dirty' and work in an 'agile method' to improve performance 
• Taking ownership of projects/problems and delivering results
• Understand and manage KPI’s that are essential for the business, focussing on both cost and quality as well as speed
• Plan, measure and report back on team progress

• Financial experience within the Warehouse and Logistics sector
• A CPC holder is an advantage
• Strong line management experience required 
• The ability to solve problems and show initiative
• Excellent communication skills
• An assertive manner and able to make decisions
• A good grasp of excel and other day to day analytical tools 
• Experience of lean thinking methods is desirable
• Previous experience of implementing 5S is desirable
