Buyer required for precision engineering manufacturing company based near Leeds, West Yorkshire.
The company is part of a global manufacturing group, supplying components to the power generation and aerospace industries. The Buyer will join the purchasing team, responsible for buying metal and other component materials used in the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of level 4 CIPS (Management level is 6) who is ambitious and willing to train to a management level.
Candidate Requirements:
- CIPS Level 4 (or working towards)
- Previous metal / precision engineering buying experience
- Strong negotiation skills
- Relevant IT skills including SAP
Key Responsibilities:
Management of daily SAP ordering system.
Contract negotiations.
Monthly adherence to budget cost metrics.
Control of Material Usage and Price Variance.
Supplier cost reduction initiatives.
Monthly supplier reviews / conference calls.
Provision of ad hock Management information reports using Microsoft Excel.
Supplier quality adherence.
Liaising with Production Control Department to ensure key supplies have the latest forecasts.
General maintenance of SAP data.
Play an active role in scrap reduction initiatives.
General support of other department functions as required to cover holidays and absence
Work closely with Production and Planning departments to avoid manufacturing delays.
Management of onsite suppliers.
The package:
38 core hours per week
Mon/Tuesday 7.30am to 16.30pm
Wed/Thurs 7.30am to 16.15pm
Fri7.30am to 12.00 noon
Salary – £32K - £35K plus quarterly bonus scheme - averaging 8% of salary
Pension contributions matched up to 7.5% of salary
Holidays - 25 days + 8 statutory holidays
