As the leading electrical contractor serving the house building sector, we operate in a highly price-driven industry with thin margins. Minimising our costs without sacrificing on quality is the name of the game and with the investments we intend to make to achieve our ambitious growth plans, we now need to recruit a procurement expert to help us make sure we’re always getting the best deal.

Based at our head office in Staverton, Gloucester and reporting to our Chief Financial Officer, you’ll need to liaise with a wide range of suppliers to purchase a variety of goods and services. This could include everything from one-off large-scale capital investments to ongoing deals with utilities, IT and stationery suppliers and hospitality providers. Longer term, our £22m annual spend on electrical materials is also a significant area that would benefit from your attention.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with budget holders across the business to achieve significant cost savings
  • Managing ongoing relationships with key suppliers and responding to any excessive price increases
  • Negotiating discounts/compensation in the event of faults or dissatisfaction with products or services procured
  • Reviewing our controls on purchasing to make sure they remain up to date with best practice and relevant legislation
  • Monitoring feedback from staff and other end users to evaluate purchase decisions

We’re looking for someone who’ll take real ownership of our purchasing strategy so you’ll need significant experience in a similar role. You must be a tough negotiator who drives a hard bargain but also someone with the skills and personality to strike a rapport with suppliers so they’re keen to do business with us. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential.

Our normal working hours are 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday, including an early finish on Fridays. Holiday entitlement is 26 days.
