Are you looking to further your career in Commercial Procurement? Interested in broadening your knowledge and taking on a new challenge?
Dstl (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) works to maximise the impact of science and technology on the defence and security of the United Kingdom. In order to do this, we need people who can use their skills to innovate and develop technologies which give our country the winning-edge. We work in niche areas which are sensitive, operationally critical and international in nature; our work therefore has to be done within government. Our Commercial function works closely with the Government Commercial Office to enhance the profession across the Civil Service to support departments whilst raising the standard of Commercial activities across the UK.
We are looking for people to join our organisation as either Commercial Officers or Commercial Managers.
As a member of the Commercial Function you will be responsible for: sourcing, sales, contract management and supplier relations in line with Public Procurement and EU Regulations. For Commercial Managers you’ll also be responsible for staff management and development. You’ll have responsibility for tasks and management of workflow within your team whilst contributing to the delivery of commercial services across Dstl.
You’ll provide working level support for Divisions, operating as a supervised practitioner in their area of responsibility and can have delegations which include: sourcing, contract management, or sales as required.
For these roles you should already be working in a Commercial environment, building on a skillset involving procurement, contract negotiation and supplier management. You should be an effective communicator, who is comfortable working as part of a team. Comfortable with thinking on your feet you’ll have the drive to deliver and get things done whilst taking personal responsibility for your work and continuous development.
In both these roles you will work alongside our Procurement professionals giving you a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of Defence research. We invest in our staff and you’ll be able to take your Commercial knowledge and experience
Closing date: 3rd March 2019
