Barnet Adult Social Care & Health Directorate spends in the region of £79 m per annum on external services to source and deliver preventative, integrated care pathways, home & community support and accommodation, working in partnership with the not for profit sector , provider businesses, users and carers.

We are looking for Senior Category Managers to lead and manage procurement and contracting activity in these areas. Working with commissioners and other supply management and front line colleagues, you will play a key role in supporting the council to decommission services, manage transition to new models and implement and deliver the category plan.

The Category Manager will have key responsibilities relating to:
• measurable efficiencies in a challenging local government finance climate
• a professional specialist contracting and procurement service within Adult
• Social Care and Health which promotes and embeds principles of choice and control for service users into care market
• high standards of corporate governance
• establishing Adult Social Care and Health in Barnet as credible and high performing in the area of procurement and contract management
• promote, develop and deliver within an outcomes focussed culture.

You will need to demonstrate strong skills and track record in procuring and contracting provisions. A working knowledge of OJEU and EU procurement directives and a qualification in CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) is desirable, along with an understanding of public sector processes. Being a strong team player is essential along with excellent communication, project management, conflict resolution and governance skills. You will need to demonstrate that you can build effective, trusting relationships with service users, providers, stakeholders and colleagues to deliver high quality work.

This is a 2 year fixed term post.
