Shift Operations Manager
Yorkshire - Selby

Greencore is renowned for the provision of a wide range of chilled, frozen and ambient foods to major retail, manufacturing and foodservice customers in the UK. We have long-standing experience in customer brand as well as providing a selection of house and licensed brands. Our ambient foods business is located in Selby, employing 600 people are now looking to appoint an Operations Manager on shifts.The Operations Manager reports directly to the Operations Director and has overall responsibility for production contribution and all aspects of operational performance and safety at the facility to the shift. Functions reporting to this role include all manufacturing operations, logistics and engineering on this shift pattern. The role is responsible for around 200 people including a significant proportion of temporary workers (Inc non-UK nationals).

Duties to include:

• Ownership of all manufacturing activities for the respective shift.
• Delivery of the production plan through direct reporting teams.
• Work with Operations Director in driving the improvements across the site to achieve World Class Standards
• Adherence to Food Manufacturing Safety and Quality Standards
• Delivery of the weekly Production Contribution requirements
• Implementation of TPM to production operations· Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Techniques in all production operations· Performance Management of all direct reports to meet site business plan
• Identification and delivery of Total Lowest Cost improvement projects
• Control and effective use of Direct and Indirect labour to meet production programme requirements and customer expectations
Skills/Experience Required:

• Proven track record of senior experience gained within a manufacturing operation utilising Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing techniques, ideally with FMCG Production experience but not essential.
• Direct management experience of >200 personnel
• Capable leader and strong manager.
• Excellent communicator at all levels with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to challenge and drive business improvement.
• Experience of Lean Manufacturing Systems and implementation
• Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing Techniques / 6 Sigma processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Dynamism with high energy level and personal drive
• Customer focused and commercially aware
• Ability to work under pressure within a high performance, fast moving environment
• Ambitious and looking to develop career to next senior level.
• Strong ability to develop quickly in understanding the business organisation and dynamics.
• A good general standard of Educational Achievement, either through full-time further education or gained as a work based Apprentice.
• NEBOSH qualification.
